Allison Navis, MD, a 2018 ANA International Travel Outreach Scholarship (IOTS) recipient, recently had an article published in the Journal of the Neurological Sciences. The article is titled "Immune reconstitution inflammatory syndrome in the central nervous system: Limitations for diagnosis in resource limited settings." Coauthors include Drs. Omar Siddiqi, Lorraine Chishimba, Stanley Zimba, Susan Morgello, and Gretchen L. Birbeck, chair of the ANA's International Outreach Committee.
Dr. Navis is a neurologist and an Assistant Professor in the Division of Neuro-Infectious Diseases at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai where her clinical practice focuses on neuro-infectious diseases, including HIV. After receiving the International Outreach Travel Scholarship, she traveled to Zambia where her research centered on diagnostic capabilities related to central nervous system immune reconstitution inflammatory syndrome (CNS IRIS).
