ANA Futures Program

The American Neurological Association (ANA) Futures Program is a longitudinal career development program for Medical Students and Residents interested in careers in academic neurology. This program is a unique opportunity because it will provide career guidance via individualized interactions with leading academic neurologists.
The program involves participation in three small group zoom sessions (in June, July & August) with ANA Leaders (each session focused on a different career development topic) culminating in an in-person meeting with ANA Board Members and Leaders on September 9 in Philadelphia at the beginning of our Annual Meeting (September 8-12, 2023).
The Medical Student Virtual Sessions will focus on:
  • Academic Career Path Selection
  • Residency Application Preparation
  • Residency Interview Practice

The in-person session will involve the medical students "interviewing” with ANA Board Members and Leaders, who will give feedback.

The Resident Virtual Sessions will focus on:
  • Professional negotiation strategies
  • Developing a longitudinal career plan
  • Communicating your research or “brand”

The in-person session will involve the residents pitching themselves or their research (as desired) to ANA Board Members and Leaders, who will give feedback.

This program will offer:
