EVENT TITLE: Dialogue: Current Perspectives on Aducanumab

OBJECTIVE: On June 7, 2021, the FDA made a decision to approve Biogen’s BLA submission of aducanumab for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease. The Alzheimer’s Association has publicly stated that we are in favor of approval and are grateful to the FDA for its rigorous review and decision. This is a historic moment for the Alzheimer’s community at large, as it has been more than 15 years since a new class of drug has been approved for Alzheimer’s.
The goal of this public scientific discussion will be to provide a balanced collegial dialogue with an opportunity to understand the science behind aducanumab, discuss publicly available data surrounding the complexity of the clinical trial results, discuss what we know about the diagnostic biomarkers used to enroll in the trial, and the FDA label which dictates which populations this drug will benefit based on the evidence reviewed. We will also address the perspectives of individuals with Alzheimer’s and their carers, as we venture into this historic moment for the Alzheimer’s field. Lastly, we will engage in a conversation about what the future for the clinical community will look like, what safety and infrastructure needs will be in the immediate and longer term, and what the payer/reimbursement perspective could be.
This will be a four-hour event from 10 am - 2 pm CT on June 21. The format consists of live panel discussions with interactive Q&A opportunities for the attendees. Register here to receive meeting information.
