Federal funding for all government agencies, including the National Institutes of Health, expires on December 11th. Congress is working right now to finalize federal spending for Fiscal Year 2021. Failure to reach an agreement could result in stagnant funding for biomedical research, or worse, a government shutdown. Join the American Brain Coalition (ABC) in urging Congress to finalize a bipartisan funding deal that provides at least $44.7 billion for the National Institutes of Health. As we continue to combat the worsening COVID-19 pandemic, please also urge Congress to provide an additional $15.5 billion in emergency funding to support further COVID-19 research and to mitigate the impacts of the pandemic on research laboratory operations.
The ABC is also urging Congress to provide robust funding for the National Science Foundation and the Veterans Affairs Medical and Prosthetic Research Program. Please ask Congress to adopt the House-passed funding levels of $8.548 billion and $840 million respectively for these critical initiatives.
