September 2018

Dear ANA members,

I hope everyone is doing well as autumn begins. That also means the ANA meeting in Atlanta Oct 21-23 is only 3 weeks away! I look forward to seeing everyone there at what promises to be a great event. There are already almost 800 registrants and by the time of the meeting, we anticipate ~1000. Our attendees represent dozens of institutions from over 40 states and 20 countries ranging from Austria to Uzbekistan.

This year, the Presidential Symposium is on “Lewy Body Dementia: From Symptoms to Synuclein." Three outstanding contributors to this area, Brad Boeve, Virginia Lee, and Dmitri Krainc, will discuss the latest information from the clinical to the basic science in this common neurodegenerative disease. Susan Schneider Williams, widow of actor Robin Williams, will then provide us important insights into the disease from a personal perspective.

On Sunday morning, in addition to the Trainee Breakfast with the ANA Board of Directors, there are three professional development courses that should be interesting and helpful: one for students to fellows; one for early to mid-career neurologists, and one for chairs. That’s just a sampling of programs from what will be a wonderful meeting.

See you in Atlanta!
