ANA Futures Program
The ANA Futures Program is a career development initiative for medical students and residents pursuing careers in academic neurology. It offers mentorship, career resources, and networking opportunities to help participants thrive in the field. This program provides aspiring neurologists with valuable guidance and connections to shape their future careers. Futures Program participants are selected by the Junior and Early Career Membership (JECM) Subcommittee.
2026 Program Overview
- Complimentary Membership and Meeting Registration: all ANA Futures Program participants receive complimentary membership to the ANA for membership year 2026. As well, program participants receive complimentary full registration to ANA2026.
- Virtual Small Group Sessions: Participants will engage in three interactive Zoom sessions with leaders from the ANA. These sessions will cover important career development topics to help guide participants in their academic neurology journey.
Student Cohort Webinar Dates: July 23, August 27, September 24 | 7–8 PM ET
Resident Cohort Webinar Dates: July 16, August 13, September 17 | 8–9 PM ET - In-Person Meeting: Participants will have the opportunity to meet with ANA Board Members and Leaders at ANA2026 being held October 17-20, 2026, in San Diego. Participants must attend the Annual Meeting and participate in educational programming:
- Saturday, October 17: 10 AM–4 PM – ANA Futures Program Educational Program
- Sunday, October 18: Educational programming throughout the day and Poster Hall
- Monday, October 19: Educational programming throughout the day, Meet the Editors Luncheon, Poster Hall
- Tuesday, October 20: Educational programming until noon
- Annual Meeting Travel Stipend: ANA Futures Program participants are eligible to receive up to $500 to support their travel expenses to the Annual Meeting. The ANA does not cover any travel expenses for the Annual Meeting. The stipend will be based on distance from the Annual Meeting. Meeting attendance is required to receive the stipend which will be disbursed within three weeks after the meeting ends.
Eligibility
- Medical Students: Those applying to neurology residency programs in the fall (applications open in February each year) and currently enrolled in a U.S. medical school.
- Residents: PGY1-4 residents in neurology or pediatric neurology residency programs.
*To participate, applicants must obtain a commitment from their Program Director or Dean of Student Affairs to ensure they can take protected time off for the ANA Annual Meeting and the monthly career development sessions.
