Call for Nominations 2026 | Board of Directors

The American Neurological Association (ANA) is seeking candidates for its Board of Directors. Opportunities are available for the office of vice president and four director seats. Serving in these roles offers valuable leadership experience, deeper engagement with ANA members, and the opportunity to collaborate with fellow leaders to advance ANA’s vision of a world without neurological disease.
Submit a nomination for yourself or a colleague using the online nomination form. Nominations will be accepted through April 30, 2026. Self-nominations are also encouraged.
EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE/OFFICER RESPONSIBILITIES:
Vice President:
- Serves a two-year term on the Executive Committee.
- In the absence or disability of the President, the Vice President shall perform the duties and exercise teh powers of the office of the President.
EFFORT COMMITMENT:
- Individuals who serve on the Executive Committee meet virtually each month, and each meeting is one hour.
- Members attend five Board of Directors meetings each year: one in-person meeting held in conjunction with the ANA Annual Meeting, which this year will be in October in San Diego, and four virtual meetings scheduled throughout the year based on board availability.
- The Executive Committee oversees organizational business between board meetings and therefore requires a greater time commitment than standard board service.
DIRECTOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Board members play a vital role in guiding the ANA’s strategic direction and ensuring the organization has the resources needed to achieve its goals. They actively contribute to setting strategic objectives and collaborate with staff to advance ANA’s mission.
Elected directors serve a three-year term, with those chosen in 2026 serving until the conclusion of the 2029 Annual Meeting.
EFFORT COMMITMENT:
- Board service includes on in-person meeting each year held at the ANA Annual Meeting.
- Virtual meetings are held throughout the year as needed and based on board availability.
- Preparation involves reviewing the meeting binder sent one week in advance of a meeting and being ready to discuss agenda items.
- ANA provides a board orientation slide deck for new members to ensure they have the resources and information needed to serve effectively.
