Senate Passes the FY20 Appropriations Bill

The United States Senate yesterday afternoon has passed the appropriations bill that passed the House on Tuesday by a vote of 71 to 23.  This bill contains significantly increased research funding, including a $2.6 billion (6.65%) increase in funding for the National Institutes of Health.  Within that amount is $500 million for the BRAIN Initiative and increases for every NIH institute. The bill now goes to the President for his signature, which is expected to happen before the current Continuing Resolution expires at midnight, December 20.
