Congress approves FY2017 spending bill

From the American Brain Coalition

This week an omnibus spending package for FY2017 cleared the Senate. It passed the House earlier this week. As requested by the American Brain Coalition (ABC), the bill gives a $2 billion increase for the National Institutes of Health (NIH), in addition to the $352 million provided as a result of the 21st Century Cures Act. The bill specifically calls for a total of $416.9 million for the Brain Research through Advancing Innovative Neurotechnologies (BRAIN) Initiative. In addition, the agreement continues the commitment to funding research on Alzheimer's disease and increases funding by $400 million to a total of just under $1.4 billion. The President is expected to sign the bill.
