November 2022

Dear ANA Members:

As we kick off the holiday season, I hope that you and yours enjoyed a festive and happy Thanksgiving!

It was wonderful seeing so many of you at the 2022 Annual Meeting in October, our first in-person meeting in three years! I hope that you enjoyed catching up with friends and colleagues and experiencing world-class speakers and outstanding educational material. Please don’t forget to claim CME credit for your attendance before the December 31, 2022 deadline.

It is time to mark your calendars for the 148th Annual Meeting of the American Neurological Association in my historic hometown of Philadelphia, PA! In 2023, the conference will be held earlier than usual – September 9-12, 2023 – so make sure to plan accordingly.

Did you know that your ANA membership offers reduced registration and abstract submission rates for ANA2023? It also includes access to the exciting, new initiatives and programs we have on the horizon. Make sure to renew your membership today, so you don’t miss out on all the great things the ANA has in store for 2023!

Speaking of new initiatives, have you checked out the new ANA website? Our newly launched site is a fantastic resource for everyone and offers users an easy-to-navigate and enjoyable experience. We have revised our mission and vision statements to better reflect the ANA’s commitment to advancing science, education, and careers to improve neurologic health for all and, ultimately, realizing a world without neurological disease. And, we have created guiding principles that embody our dedication to professional integrity, organizational excellence, community growth, diversity, and innovation. This is the culmination of many months of hard work by our ANA committees and staff, and I want to thank them for their time and talents!

Another exciting program I’d like to highlight is the recently announced Grant to Activate Global Engagement (GAGE). Part of ANA’s Global Neurology Initiative to foster collaborations and bidirectional learning with a wider world of academic neurology and neuroscience internationally, GAGE encourages global engagement within the neurology/neuroscience fields in low-income and lower-middle-income regions.

Finally, I want to thank our colleagues who presented on behalf of the ANA at the “Advances in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis” Symposium during the Society for Neuroscience’s annual meeting, Neuroscience 2022, in November:

• Eva Feldman, MD, PhD, FANA, University of Michigan

• Lindsey Hayes, MD, PhD, Johns Hopkins School of Medicine

• Timothy Miller, MD, PhD, FANA, Washington University in St. Louis

• Bryan Traynor, MD, PhD, FANA, National Institute on Aging

I would also like to let all our members know that if there any topics or plenaries from this past year that you would like to repurpose for another society, the ANA is here to help! We cannot overstate the importance of having our voice heard far and wide, as we have so many cutting-edge topics to share with the community at large.

Wishing you an enjoyable December full of holiday cheer!

Regards,
