PURPOSE
The Grass Foundation- ANA Award in Neuroscience was established in 2007 to recognize outstanding young physician-scientists conducting research in basic or clinical neuroscience. The Grass Foundation was established in 1955 by Albert and Ellen Grass to advance research and education in neuroscience, with a special focus on investigators early in their careers.
ELIGIBLE CANDIDATES
Eligible candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Physician-scientist neurology faculty members early in their careers (MD or MD, PhD)
- Faculty who are less than 5 years out of postgraduate training
- Actively working in field of academic neurology or neuroscience
- Previous applicants are eligible to reapply
Not eligible
- Full professor is not eligible
- Previous awardees
The selection committee is not required to make the award each year if there is not an outstanding candidate.
Prize
Each awardee will present either a paper or a poster as appropriate at the ANA’s Annual Meeting. The 2018 ANA Annual Meeting will be held on October 21-23, 2018 in Atlanta, GA. The ANA will also award a plaque and a prize of $1,000 to each awardee.
Requirements
Complete nominations must include the following:
- Nomination letter from Chair, Program Director or Education Chair (max 3 pgs)
Details to include:
- Type of research
- Number of first-authored peer-reviewed publications
- Outline major contributions to the field of study
- Nomination letter from Colleague or Collaborator
- Nominee’s CV and bibliography
- Research description: a summation of the nominee’s research (max 3 pgs)
- Three (3) Abstracts reflecting the substance of research achievement
